Abstract
Parent¢¥s expectations of school health services and the degree of interest in their child¢¥s health were investigated during Dec. 1-6, 1986. The subjects were 218 mothers of the first grade pupil attending 5 elementary schools at K city in Chonnam province.
The results could be summarized as follows:
1) Sixty-one per cent of the subjects expected that school authority is responsible absolu-tely for health services such as physical examination and clinic services and 48.9% for environmental sanitation and only 42.4% for health education.
2) In 15 specific school health activities, the subjects expected to participate cooperatively in keeping ¡°Oral Hygiene¡±, teaching ¡°Normal growth & Development¡± and ¡°Prevention of Disease & Accidents¡±.
From the above result, the parents seemed to be appreciate and expect to school health services superficially. And in order to improve the parent¢¥s appreciation and to encourage participation in school health services, it is necessary to provide parents the chances of participating in school health services starting from activities which were expected to participate cooperatively.
